This year we will be our 18th Annual Paniolo Hat Lei Contest!

 Lei Contest is open to all ages, both residents and visitors.  

Bring your lei to the center between
 7am-9am Friday, February 24, 2017

Lei will be on display from noon till 8pm on Friday 
and again on Saturday from 10am to 4pm at the Visitor Center
Two categories: Beautiful (fresh flowers foliage); Unique (anything)
Five age groups: grades K-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12 and adults.You can get your application at the Visitor Center or at any First Hawaiian Bank and on-line at  


Lei Aloha:

 Make a flower lei with Kupuna Janet Kahalekomo.

 Experience "hands on" making and wearing a flower lei.

Gems of the Sea

Observe  Kumu Lu Koerte craft Ni`ihau shells into jewelry. On display are exquisite shell lei and other items made from the variety of shells found on Ni`ihau.  Those interested to learn about the island of Ni`ihau and the different shells.
